There are 3 crafting professions in Diablo 3. You can choose to level up all 3 if you want and they are account-wide, meaning you only have to level them once for all your characters. These professions aren’t necessarily learned on the character similar to most MMO’s. As you progress through the game, you will come across artisans and will have to do quests for them. These artisans will learn recipes as they progress and they also do all the crafting for you in town. To level the artisans skill, you will need a book of training, crafting reagents along with some gold. Some recipes will drop off monsters and can be given to the artisan to learn. Recipes are freely tradable with players, however it is unsure that the high level ones will be like. Since artisans are account-wide, any recipes they learn will also be available to other characters.
