Diablo III rapidfire

Diablo III rapidfire
This is pretty standard and you may see more patch notes like this in the future (if a patch happens to contain similar fixes and nothing else).

We’ll detail fixes we feel have an impact on gameplay, are meaningful to players, or could use additional testing, absolutely (we’ve done it in previous patches). On top of that, if we think a specific fix could use a bit more visibility and/or feedback, we’ll sometimes call it out with a forum post, too.

The fixes that went with in patch 11 and 12, while worth noting that they occurred, were really minor in the end, as well as highly technical, so we chose to do a general call-out. This is fairly common for beta patches (though not for live patches).

That said, I totally understand why you’d like the extra information and will definitely pass that feedback along. :)
What about the firebat, disintegrate, and rapidfire spells breaking the game bug?
I’ll check on this for you. Either way, this is a fix that would merit a separate patch note line. If it was missed with this patch, I’ll be sure to amend the notes appropriately. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Beta to Retail Saves

Please be aware that with this large wave of invites we expect there could be an increase in the number of phishing attempts. Some unscrupulous individuals send out falsified emails purporting to be from Blizzard, but are in fact meant to steal your login credentials. For more information on how to identify these emails please refer to our Battle.net Security site. One easy way to ensure your invite is legit is to avoid clicking on links in any invite emails you receive, and instead log in to your Battle.net account and see if you have a Diablo III beta license attached. If there’s no license you can be sure the email you received was not from Blizzard.
If you didn’t receive an invite, never fear! We’re going to continue to give away beta invites, so be on the lookout for promotions, contests, and giveaways on our properties as well as at your favorite fansites. We’ll have more information about these global giveaways as well as regional betas in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to those of you who recently got into the beta! Please don’t forget to use the Beta Feedback and Beta Bug Report forums (and theTechnical Support forum if you run into trouble running the game), and for those who haven’t gotten in yet, we wish you the best of luck!

Here are some more recent updates regarding Blizzard comments regarding the recent beta wave. I’ve also added a youtube of Diablo 3 beta patch 11 in action.

More on Beta Wave
The recent beta invites were for North American players only as we’re still heavily interested in server performance, and inviting local, low-latency testers is important to achieve the results we need. While we absolutely want to continue to bring in players from around the globe, our intent is always going to be to do what best serves our testing requirements.
So while there may not be any beta invites in this wave for the EU, we will have more information in the following weeks about the global giveaways as well as for regional betas for you. Keep your eyes on the Diablo III front page and forums for this upcoming awesomeness! (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Beta to Retail Saves
Beta characters and achievements will not carry over to the final game. When Diablo III launches it will be a clean slate for everyone.
If it helps, you can blame it on the Lord of Terror. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
If we make visible gameplay or UI changes, we’ll definitely note them. Same for notable bug fixes, too.

The difference with the last two patches, however, is that they’ve only really included fixes for crashes that are relatively minor or simply affect a small percent of the beta population. The fixes themselves are pretty technical (as are the crashes), so that’s why we made a more generic statement like the above.

PvP game types

When you participate in ranked games (fights that pit two opposing teams of players against each other in ‘best of’ matches), you’ll earn points for advancement based on kills, accomplished objectives, wins, and other factors. Points lead to multiplayer achievements, titles, and more. Our system is focused on encouraging furious combat and multiplayer progression, not stringent competitive rankings, so you’ll earn points after every match and Battle.net matchmaking will pit you against similarly skilled opponents.

We’re also looking into other PvP game types that exist outside the ranking system, like 1-on-1 duels and mutually chosen team battles (for example, you and your friends could divide into two teams for an arena showdown). We’ll have more information on the availability of these game types in the future.

Our aim for Diablo III’s PvP is to set you up with dangerous, exciting gladiatorial matches, let you battle it out with other players at your own pace, and allow you to proudly display your rewards. We’ve added a robust system to remove the obstructions that may have kept you out of the action, so that you can focus on what really matters: answering the age-old question of ‘who would win in a fight’ — with a gauntlet to the face.

As soon as the video gets out, we’ll get it here.

Despite this, and the fifth and final playable class being announced at the OC of Blizzcon, there was still no date for the game tonight.

Two decades have passed since the demonic denizens, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn.

Fundamentals of PvP

Fundamentals of PvP:
Chris Metzen’s just announced at Blizzcon that Diablo III will have PvP battles.
A video was shown of it, featuring small-scale maps and team based combat.

Blizzard’s released the first shots of the mode on the Diablo website. They’re below.

They also posted more info for PvP, which is detailed below:
PvP (short for ‘player versus player’ combat) has had a storied history in the Diablo series. For Diablo III, we’ve decided to take it in a new direction to ensure that it’s deep, organized, frantic, and fun.

Diablo III’s PvP battles are fought in arenas spread out across the world of Sanctuary. These arenas aren’t random — they’re all unique, designed with differing amounts of terrain and cover. You participate in PvP using the character of your choice, with access to all of the gear and skills you’ve accumulated playing the game in single-player or cooperative mode.

You’ll learn many of the fundamentals of PvP (like how to avoid attacks or target specific foes) by playing the single-player game, but PvP differs in that it isn’t an ideal venue for gathering new weapons and armor. Your rewards for shedding blood in the arena are purer than that: bragging rights, the joy of sending friends old and new to their swift and inglorious deaths, and points that represent how far you’ve progressed on the path to fame and glory.

Diablo III is being developed

Diablo III is being developed as the definitive action role-playing game, and a true continuation of the Diablo series. Players will create a hero from one of five distinct classes, such as barbarian or witch doctor, each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. As these heroes adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic storyline and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, theyll grow in experience and ability and acquire items of incredible power.
The game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced Hells armies -- and were fortunate enough to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again.

Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level.

It does sound like they are being rather ambitious with the PvP, however, with the blog post detailing all the work that’s going into it. Once it does launch, it will include “multiple arena maps with themed locations and layouts, PvP-centric achievements, and a matchmaking system that will help you and your team get into fairly matched games quickly and easily.”

As for the campaign, they are putting the finishing touches on the game. The only thing they lack now is a solid release date. At an Activision conference call earlier this year, it was stated that Diablo III would launch sometime in the second quarter of 2012.
While some fans may not like this new Blizzard that cuts content to get a game out on time, I for one welcome this new Blizzard. While it’s important that teams take their time on a game to make it the best it can be, it’s equally unfair to delay a game for a feature that maybe only half of the player population would take advantage of. I didn’t complain when Space Marine didn’t launch with its arena co-op mode, but it was a delight to get it a month later when I had finished with the campaign. As long as the PvP arena stays free, Blizzard made the right move here.

For the PC version of Diablo III

There is no confirmation yet about Diablo III to be developed for consoles but some owners of Xbox 360 and PS3 were really excited about the game to be played in their favorite consoles.

In a Gamescom conference, lead designer Josh Mosqueira said that the company is "very, very serious about bringing the Diablo III experience to console."

"Today, we're trying to build the best console team at Blizzard. We're looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console. Trust me, it is a dream job," he said.

"All I can say is it's going to be awesome. Stay tuned."

For the PC version of Diablo III - it still has no release date.

Gamers out there, what do you think about the chances for Diablo 3 to be developed in consoles - PS3 and Xbox 360?

-Like millions of fans I am desperately waiting for Diablo III.
All we could expect from Diablo III (and maybe even a little more) is now just about to launch (26.6. for US 30.6. for Europe) in form of TITAN QUEST.
It has all we love about Blizzards hack-and-slay plus many innovations for a ARPG. For example physics engine and more than 1000 unique items to find. (Set items etc)
-Hmm I've been awaiting diablo3 ever since the rehab I had to go through with Diablo2:LoD. Fantastic game. I'll check this out, although I don't think you can cram anymore atmosphere into an RPG than Act 1&2 of D2. Those were fantastic moments.
-This Titan Quest looks enjoyable. I'll be waiting around for it now. smile.gif
Though, nothing can stop me from Diablo 3 more.

In Blizzard Entertainment's "Diablo(R)" and "Diablo II," the recurring character of Deckard Cain delivered quests, accompanied the brave adventurer, and, as the last of the Horadrim, provided a link to the greater history of the world of Sanctuary. Ever mysterious during these appearances, Cain hinted at a larger story, providing snippets of it in his notebook. "Diablo III: Book of Cain" is Cain's formal record of this greater tale--a dissertation on the lore of the Diablo universe, told by one who has witnessed and participated in some of the epic events that make up the eternal conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.Designed as an "in-world" artifact from the Diablo universe, "Diablo III: Book of Cain" includes Cain's revealing meditations, as well as dozens of sketches and color artworks depicting the angelic and demonic beings who wage constant war with one another.
